Year 6 learnt a lot about life on the Home Front during World War 2 through a range of creative activities. We tried to ‘Make do and mend’ by turning our old clothes into a beautiful rag rug; we collaborated to make a giant ‘Dig for Victory’ poster; we drew portraits to show how evacuees might have felt; we experienced food rationing by making an eggless chocolate cake from a war-time recipe; we created Blitz silhouette pictures and we made clay poppy sculptures to remember the victims of war. Thank you to all of the parents and other family members who came along to help. We had a fantastic morning and learnt a lot!
