Today, as part of our ‘Jungle’ topic, we had a visit from some jungle animals thanks to Zoo Lab!

Ken brought along some incredible jungle creatures for us to observe and even touch! We were all fascinated to meet a giant African land snail, a Madagascan hissing cockroach, a leopard gecko, a tarantula, and an albino snake.

As we observed each animal, we talked about the different layers of the jungle where they might live and what they like to eat. The children were full of curiosity and asked thoughtful questions, showing real interest in learning more about these amazing animals. We discovered all sorts of interesting facts—for example, that the hissing cockroach will eat almost anything, even wood, and that the African land snail has over 15,000 teeth!

It was a brilliant, hands on experience that brought our jungle learning to life. The children showed great confidence and care when handling the animals and were super excited to share what they had learnt.

It was a wonderful way to discover the natural world up close and deepen our understanding through real world experiences.

Well done Reception! I am so proud of how brave you were today!
