This week, we had the fantastic opportunity to attend the Marylebone Music Festival, where we enjoyed a live orchestral performance of Peter and the Wolf.
Alongside children from schools across the area, we were transported into the magical world of musical storytelling. The conductor brought each character to life by introducing the instruments that represented them, from the flute fluttering like a bird, to the deep, dramatic drums of the hunters, and the soaring strings that accompanied Peter on his adventure.
As the orchestra played, we were captivated by the way the different instruments painted the story through sound. It was a wonderful experience to imagine the action unfolding, guided by the melodies and rhythms of the percussion, woodwind, and string sections.
To round off the performance, everyone joined in with a joyful singalong of Noisy Notes, which was a definite highlight and had us all singing with smiles on our faces.
A huge thank you to the Marylebone Music Festival for providing such an inspiring and memorable experience. It is not every day that we have the chance to hear such talented musicians perform live, and some of us were even delighted to recognise the piece from a previous visit. We would also like to extend our thanks to the parent volunteers who accompanied us on the trip. We hope you enjoyed it just as much as we did!
Year 4, which instrument did you enjoy hearing the most, and which character did it represent?
