What a fantastic week we have had at St Vincent’s celebrating our annual Enterprise Week! This is a special opportunity for each class to create their very own business, designing, making and selling products with the aim of making a profit, all while developing valuable skills and gaining first-hand experience of running a business.

Monday – Let’s Get Down to Business!

We kicked off the week with a whole-school assembly introducing Enterprise Week and all the exciting opportunities ahead. Back in the classroom, Year 2 got straight to work deciding what our business would sell. After lots of discussion, we chose to create beautiful, personalised charm keyrings featuring air-dry clay initials and decorative charms.

Next, it was time to give our business an identity! We brainstormed company names and held a class vote, with Pretty Little Charms coming out as the winner! We then got creative designing our very own company logos. The excitement was already building!

Tuesday – Designing and Creating!

Tuesday was a busy day for our budding entrepreneurs! We began by designing eye-catching posters to advertise our keyrings, before putting our mathematical skills to the test in a money-themed maths lesson. We also became persuasive writers, creating speeches to convince potential customers why they simply had to buy our wonderful products!

In the afternoon, the fun really began as we created our very own personalised keyrings, complete with our initials. This gave us a chance to practise our designs before making products for our customers. We couldn’t wait to get started!

Wednesday – Orders, Orders, Orders!

Wednesday began with another whole-school assembly, where some of our wonderful Year 2 children bravely stood up in front of the school to promote Pretty Little Charms. They spoke so beautifully and confidently about our products, and we were incredibly proud of them!

Then came the moment we had all been waiting for… our orders arrived! We were absolutely thrilled to see just how many people wanted to buy our keyrings. With so many orders to fulfil, it was time to roll up our sleeves and get making! We worked hard shaping and creating the air-dry clay initials, making sure each one was special for its new owner.

Thursday – The Finishing Touches!

Thursday was all about bringing our creations to life! Once our clay initials were ready, we carefully painted them and selected the perfect charms to complete each keyring. We took great pride in our work, paying close attention to detail and making sure our customers would be delighted with their purchases.

Finally, we packaged our finished products, ready for the big delivery day!

Friday – Delivery Day and Celebrations!

Friday was the day we had all been working towards! We were so excited to deliver our finished keyrings to our customers and see all our hard work pay off. We also enjoyed receiving the products we had purchased from other classes.

Best of all, Pretty Little Charms made a profit! What an amazing achievement for our young entrepreneurs!

To round off our busy week, we completed another money-themed maths lesson and reflected on our Enterprise Week experience, thinking about what we had learnt, what we had enjoyed and what we might do differently next time.

What an incredible week it has been! We have developed our creativity, teamwork, communication, problem-solving and money skills, all while having so much fun. Year 2 have shown fantastic enthusiasm, determination and entrepreneurial spirit throughout the entire week.

We are so proud of everything we have achieved and have absolutely loved running our very own business, Pretty Little Charms!
