Today we welcomed Miriam and Michael from CAFOD who led a whole school assembly about the Jubilee Year.
Miriam explained how Pope Francis had called the Jubilee Year and although he had sadly passed away, joining in with the Jubilee Year would be a wonderful way for us to honour his legacy.
Miriam shared a jubilee pledge which we were all making to become ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ throughout the Jubilee. It is a way for us all to come together and make the world a better place for those who are suffering.
Miriam and Michael explained how CAFOD help others including stories of real people they have helped around the world using money raised by schools.
Our school will be one of the schools fundraising for CAFOD during the Jubilee. We will be creating a campaign to raise money for those who need it most and bring them the hope which Pope Francis asked us to work for.
We enjoyed ending our assembly by praying the Jubilee Prayer together.
Miriam and Michael then delivered workshops in Years 2, 4 and 6 where they looked deeper at the meaning of the Jubilee Year and thought of different ways in which they can carry hope through to our school, local and global communities.
Thank you Miriam and Michael for visiting our school and teaching us more about this special year for the Church!
What was your favourite part about Miriam and Michael’s visit?
My favourite part about Miriam and Michael’s visit was the things they taught us in assembly, including the Jubilee prayer.
