Today we are going to be learning about suffixes. A suffix is a letter or a group of letters that go on the end of a word to change the word’s meaning.

    Dancer, danced, dancing – we dont need the ‘naughty e’

    When Mummy put the shells in the bath they sunk and I had to dive for them.

    The words never and her look like they have suffixes but they are tricking you.
    The er in these words are just the sound at the end.
    We have to look to see if the word has a root word like tall or help. They have to be a full word before a suffix can be added to it.
    Nev+er – nev is not a full word and
    h+er – h is just a letter.
    I hope this makes sense!

    – 1 word -est: tallest.

    – sinked: not correct. The correct way is sunk.
    – buzzed: correct.
    – cleaned: correct.

    Here is also my extension work.

    Sinked is wrong because if I said that in a sentence it wouldn’t make any sense.

    The correct word is sank.

    Eg-
    My toy sinked to the bottom of the sea. This is WRONG.

    My toy sank to the bottom of the sea. This is correct.
