Good morning Year 6!

Today you will be experimenting with and combining materials and processes to design and make 3D form.

Barbara Hepworth was a British sculptor, who was born in Wakefield, Yorkshire in 1903. She lived through World War 2! She was a leading figure in the international art scene throughout a career spanning five decades.

One of her key works is this sculpture of mother and child:

What do you think of this sculpture? How does it make you feel?

Your task for today: Design a sculpture to represent ‘Lockdown 2020’. You can design it in your Home Learning book and if you have the resources (clay, playdough etc) you could try to make it. Please send in photos of your design or sculpture via the Homework Uploader.

You can tell us about your sculpture/design in the comments πŸ™‚

I look forward to seeing your sculptures!

  3. Good morning Mrs!
My design is going to be a picture of our Earth wearing a face mask!
This is to represent that we must all stay clean, positive, and hygienic no matter what. This also represents that we are all in this together!

I will make this by the β€˜paper mache’ method.
This will take around a week to do so i will start on it today, take a few photos whilst it is drying, and then once it is ready and painted,i will take the finished photo for the blog,i will keep it forever and then pass it on through the generations so they can remember this historical time πŸ™‚

    Hello Everyone,
I will be making a piece of art to show that during lockdown, we were stuck inside like if we were in prison. All that happened during lockdown e.g. social distancing, stay at home and especially not seeing friends made us feel imprisoned.
I will send a picture when I am done. I can’t wait to see how my art ends up.

  16. Mrs Avdiu says:

Can’t wait to see it! Thankfully, unlike prison, we were with our families πŸ™‚

  17. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you Jade for sending in your sculpture – I have shared a photo of it on the blog. I have to say I was very moved by the nurse holding up the world – we definitely owe a lot to our wonderful health care workers.
