Hello Class 1!

I am sure you all enjoyed your zoom call with Miss Travers yesterday!

Today we are going to look at some art work which is linked to your Great Britain topic on British Seasides!

Have a look carefully at the picture below…

Vincent Van Gogh was born in 1853. He had 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
He loved painting and he painted this picture of the seaside in 1888.
We can tell that Van Gogh painted this view of the sea from the beach, as grains of sand have been found in the paint layers. It was done at the fishing village of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, during a trip he took from Arles in the south of France.

After looking at the painting, think about the following:

Write your sentences on the blog or on paper and send in a photo.

When you have finished that you might want to have a go at creating your own seaside picture.
If you do, think carefully about how to paint the sea. Think about how the sunshine may reflect off of the water.

Then think about the colours that you will use to show the sea as well as other objects in your picture. Will you have a boat like Vincent Van Gogh’s picture? Or a family having a picnic? Or something else? Will you use paints or coloured pencils or chalks? You could even make a collage with different coloured paper and materials!

If you have a go at doing your own seaside picture, take a photo of it and send it in so that I can create a Year 1 seaside gallery!
I can’t wait to see you sentences about Vincent Van Gogh’s painting and your very own seaside creations!
From Miss Lee 🙂

    Good Morning Miss Lee

I see waves, boats and the ocean.
I like the waves because they look interesting.

I have created my own picture of the seaside and I will send it in to you.

I got a glass of water and I put it in a sunny place and then I looked at the water and I saw a little bit of sun in it and a little rainbow.
