Our new topic for Autumn 2 is… ‘Celebrations Around the World’

This is a wonderful topic for celebrating the diversity of the children in Reception.

There is so much to explore in this topic! It embraces language, costume, religions, festivals and care for our world. There will be many opportunities to talk about our families and recognise the differences and similarities we share.

We would love to find out about the celebrations you love to celebrate with your families!

What celebrations do you enjoy celebrating with your family?
What special things do you do? What foods do you eat? What do you wear?

We will share all of your responses in class which will create some fantastic discussions!

  1. Christmas is my favorite holiday celebration because Baby Jesus was born on Christmas. And I like all of the presents from Santa. Thanksgiving is also my favorite celebration because we celebrate it with my family. And we eat pumpkin pie and apple pie. We go to someone’s house every year to celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is an American celebration.

  2. I love celebrating Christmas because Jesus was born. I love that Santa is bringing me presents and I think God is coming to our house with Santa. I love putting decorations with mummy and daddy on our Christmas tree and putting a star on the top of it. I love celebrating with everyone. We always go to church to light the candle for my grandad who is in heaven. Isabelle

  4. Daryna loves St. Nicholas Day. Before the holiday children write letters with lists of good deeds they have accomplished during the year and ask for some presents. Usually St. Nicholas puts the presents for children under their pillows. And you have to be kind polite during the year if you want to get the present you wish for.

  5. I love celebrating Christmas because I dream about the presents that Santa will bring me. And I say thank you in my head. When I wake up I see my presents under the Christmas tree. We eat a big turkey with potatoes and mushrooms 🍄 and ice cream for desert.
    Then I have a cracker.
