  1. Sam sang the whole song to Maggie & Mummy (with some funny made up lyrics from 6 to 10), we loved it!

  2. Miss Siswick says:

I’m glad you all enjoyed the counting song, Sam. I hope Mummy and Maggie joined in with the dance!

  3. My numbers seem to be sloping when I write. Should I focus on straightening them or just practice the formation at this stage.

  4. Miss Siswick says:

Hello, James. Well done for trying to write the numbers. We’re just beginning to represent numbers at this stage so just do your best.

  5. Grace joined up the numbers to the words (with help). She also wrote 1, 3 and 4 but needed help with 2 and 5 so we will keep trying to write those.

  6. Miss Siswick says:

Great number work, Grace. 2 and 5 can be very difficult to write because they are quite similar.

  7. Mrs Rekkas says:

    Morning nursery, enjoy your maths.

  8. Miss Siswick says:

Thank you for all the photos of you writing the numbers. I have added them to the Writing blog gallery (posted on Monday) because this blog won’t let me post a video and a gallery at the same time.

  9. Dear Miss Siswick,

I had fun watching the video. Mummy noticed that I write my numbers with either the left hand, the right hand or both hands. I copied them. I do write my letters with the right hand though (maybe because the letters were not written on a flat piece of paper?)

    Greetings,
    Nicolas

  10. Miss Siswick says:

I’m glad that you enjoyed watching the video, Nicolas. Good try with writing the numbers.

  11. Adelaide says:

Hello, Adelaide said the numbers and showed them on her fingers. When writing, her 1, 3 and 4 are good; 2 and 5 are more difficult but she is getting there.

  12. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Adelaide. 2 and 5 are more difficult.

  13. Ania was very good at writing numbers, only 5 was complicated for her.
She herself mixed up the numbers and arranged them in the correct order

  14. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Ania. Keep on trying with the number 5.

  15. Great song nursery! Really impressive assembly . Super choreography Miss Siswick and Mrs Knowler. Joey loved singing this song and showing the numbers on his fingers.

  16. Miss Siswick says:

I’m glad you enjoyed the actions, Joey. Mrs Knowler and I enjoyed it a lot as I think you can see on the video!

  17. Philip ordered the number 1-5 easily and when I have him 6-10 he was quite challenged. With a bit of help he got there in the end. He’s really enjoying copying the numbers on his laminated sheet. Any tips on pencil grip? It’s all Over the place!

  18. Miss Siswick says:

Well done, Philip. I’m glad you’re enjoying writing the numbers. It can help to hold something small and soft, like a pom pom or a piece of blue tack, to your palm with your ring finger and little finger. This only leaves you with three fingers and helps you with your tripod grip. Let me know if that helps.

  19. Mrs Knowler says:

Thank you Miss Siswick for putting the song on again. It is one of my favourites. I love pirates.

  20. Caspian did well putting the numbers in order and counting the numbers 1-10 on his fingers.he managed to write 1, 4, 5 in a good way but struggled a bit with 2 and 3. he seems to write with the left once then the write hand another time.

  21. Miss Siswick says:

Hi Caspian. Good try with writing the numbers today. 2 and 3 are tricky.
