I have noticed that there may be some confusion between words that begin with the letter ‘s’ and words that begin with a ‘s’ sound and also between words that begin with the letter ‘a’ and words that begin with an ‘a’ sound.

Words such as snake and sausage begin with the sound ‘s’.

Words such as shell and shower begin with the sound ‘sh’.

Words such as apple and ant begin with the sound ‘a’.

Words such as angel and apron begin with the sound ‘ai’.

Please listen to the group 1 sounds (s a t i p n) again before you go on to today’s task. You can also hear the sounds in the Jolly phonics songs.

https://www.jollylearning.co.uk/resource-bank/learn-the-letter-sounds/

Today’s  task:  Practice making the ‘i i i ‘ action and saying  ‘i i i ‘  Go on a hunt in your house  for something that begins with an ‘i’ sound.  (Remember that words such as ice cream don’t begin with an ‘i’ sound.)  saying them like this i i i i ink. Practice writing the letter ‘i’ in the air and on the table with your finger.  You can also write the letter on your laminated card using a whiteboard pen or on paper using pen, crayons, paint or pencil.

Please let us know if you can find something  in your house that begins with i. It’s a tricky one!
