Answers for yesterday’s challenge (30.3.20)

I watched a film, helped my mum make lunch, played with my brother and went to my gran’s for tea.

Well done for writing your own sentences using commas!

New Daily Challenge

Apostrophes for Single Possession

An apostrophe and ‘s’ shows that something belongs.

Hugo‘s racket – This means the racket belongs to Hugo.

Examples

The room’s furniture.
The castle’s moat.

If a name ends in ‘s’ already, you still need to add an apostrophe and an ‘s’ – James‘s hat

This rule is the same for any noun ending in ‘s’ – The walrus‘s tusks

Task

Lets practise this skill first. Rewrite the phrases with an apostrophe and an ‘s’ to show that something belongs.

Example
The keyboard has keys – The keyboard’s keys

Questions

  1. The suitcase has handles.
  2. The man has a house.
  3. The bicycle has wheels.

Now it’s time to write your own sentences using an apostrophe and an ‘s’ to show that something belongs. Remember all of the important rules. Post your sentences on the blog.

I look forward to reading your own sentences!
