Good morning Year 6!

Today we’re going to do some writing! I’m so excited to see what you’re able to write.

Today you can write your opening sentence or first few sentences on the blog and then you will receive feedback which you can apply to your final published piece for tomorrow. Then you can finish your writing in your Home Learning Books, making sure you proof read and edit as you go!

Task:

Your brainstorm from Tuesday should help with this!

The first thing you need to do is consider how you will describe the toy in detail. Use your imagination and be as thorough as you can!

This might help: Amazing Adjectives and Awesome Adverbs

The key is to SHOW, NOT TELL. Show what the toy is like but don’t tell us what it is.

REMEMBER TO USE:

•Interesting verbs
Adverbs – words that add information to the verb.
Adjectives – describing words that tell you more about nouns.
CHALLENGE: Can you include a simile or metaphor? (If you click on the words, they will take you to BBC Bitesize for more examples)

You can describe the advert as if you are trying to sell it or it is missing or it is a new toy coming to stores soon. If you include pictures try to include just a part of the toy so that others can guess what it is!

Once you have completed your advert, please send it via the Homework Uploader for the attention of Miss Carruthers.

Extension: describe these objects to an alien.

You come across a small alien from the planet Mirocat.

He has never been to Earth before and explains to you that there are a lot of new things here he has never seen before. Could you help him by describing the objects as if they are brand new to you and you have never seen them before? Do not say what the object is!

You can write the descriptions in the comments and your classmates can guess what it is you are writing about!

As today is not my working day, Miss Carruthers will kindly respond to you on the blogs.

Good luck Year 6!

Mrs Avdiu xx
