Good Morning Year 5 and Happy Friday!

Well done for working very hard yesterday to begin your narrative-I really enjoyed reading them!

This is our ‘published writing blog! ’

Once you have edited your writing and you are happy that you cannot improve it further, then it is time to publish it! Type up your writing onto the blog so that other people can read your wonderful writing (make sure that there are no mistakes before submit the comment)

Editing and proof reading is so important…probably even more important as the actual writing! We all make mistakes (I make loads!) so we must take time to read through our writing again.

Once you’ve edited your writing yourself, maybe you could read it out loud to someone in your family? When you read your work to someone else, it can help you identify mistakes. You need to sit together so you can both see the writing, you can hold the editing pen and read out your work. Your partner will then check it makes sense, check spelling and give ideas to make it better.

Make sure you read other people’s work on this blog too, it helps us all to get better to borrow ideas for each other! I can’t wait to read all your finished pieces.

We can’t wait to see what you write!

Good luck authors of Year 5!

  1. Hello everyone,
Here is my English for today. I hope you all have a great morning and I
hope you all enjoy reading my work.

Would being a Superhero appeal to you? People would look up to you, respect you and you would live an exciting, exhilarating life. However, you would also have to hide your true identity from your family and friends and your life is permanently at stake. Would the pros outweigh the cons?

Being a Superhero includes fame and adoration; imagine being an idol to children everywhere and being the person everyone wants to be.
When a family member is in danger, there you are ready to save them; if a friend is in trouble, there you are, a strong and powerful Superhero to the rescue. Imagine destroying baddies everywhere and make the world a safer place

Although being a Superhero sounds great what about the downsides. You could be called out for a mission at anytime and you have to go, missing important moments in your life such as birthdays. You might find yourself in life and death situations. Sometimes only luck can get you through a mission alive.Even though it seems that superheroes win all of the battles there may not always be a fairytale ending.

  2. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you Erin! This is great and a really balanced argument looking at both sides. Well done 🙂

  3. Happy Friday everyone! I hope that you are all well and safe. Here is my finished writing, I am not going to write my intro out again, I will just right from the first paragraph (Also my brother copied my work from the word document and wrote the name as but so please ignore that one, sorry again):

There are many great reasons as to why being a superhero would be very cool. For instance, you would be known throughout the world and lots of people would look up to you. You would have lots of super abilities such as super strength, flying and more. It would be an honour having such powers and strengths, everyone would see you as their saviour and hero.

However, it wouldn’t be such a good thing, as it is a lot of responsibility and if you failed at something, everyone would be disappointed and citizens might start to turn on you. It’s a lot of pressure having to save the day all the time and there would always be some people who didn’t like you because they thought that you were not needed.

In conclusion, I would not like to be a superhero as it would be a lot of pressure and I wouldn’t like all that stress. You have to be the perfect person and you must always get it right or it could end out badly. It’s a big thing which I wouldn’t be ready to take on.

  4. Mrs Avdiu says:

Hi Elsa! Thank you for this. It appears to have been posted twice.
Please check the comma splicing in the third paragraph. I really like the points you have made!

  5. Nika ???️ says:

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all safe and well! I changed mostly everything that I wrote in the first paragraph, and then added some more.
I hope that you feel entertained whilst reading this!
We watch and read about superheroes almost every day. It can be in comics, newspapers, books and even films! A lot of people would like to be superheroes – they want to have magical powers. Superheroes are taking care of everyday life by fighting off bad people.
That might be fun – but do you know that there will be some downs if you want to become mighty hero?
Some people would agree that being a superhero would be amazing! You would get powers and everyone would love you! You would be a hero! Everyone would know you as a mighty kid that saves the World every now and then. However, being a superhero means having a lot of responsibilities – you might be called out for a mission even when you have only started your homework which is due tomorrow morning, meaning there would be a lot of detentions in stock for you… It is not only that, some missions are very late at night, so you would be extremely tired for the day ahead – or maybe not, as you are a superhero with super strength to stay AWAKE!

    – Nika ???️

  6. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you Nika for being such a reflective learner.
I always feel entertained reading your work 🙂
I really like your use of rhetorical questions because you really made me think. You have also given some good points to both sides.. I am not sure if I would want to be a superhero anymore!!

  7. Elena ?? says:

    Hello Everyone!
I hope you are all well and that you are all safe ?
I miss you all so much and I hope to see you all soon ! ?

This is my published writing ✍️ I hope you enjoy ?

Lots of people talk about how amazing it would be if you were a superhero! You could save the world from evildoers and make sure all if the citizens are safe. Even better you could have some amazing super powers. On the other hand, you also need to learn to control those super powers and only use them for very important things. I would not have a lot of spare time because I have to be a superhero and I also have to do homework which means that I would have a very tight schedule. You also need to learn to take responsibility for your actions. You need to always be at the right place at the right time otherwise the evil will get out. Some times people could criticise you because they do not think you are doing the right thing.

I would absolutely love to be a superhero because you could have awesome super powers and everyone would know you ! I would help people whenever they need it and I will always be there to save the world from evil destruction. I would be a stunning superhero!

I hope you all enjoyed my published piece of writing ✍️
    Happy Friday ???

Let me know what you thought ?
    ~Elena ??

  8. Mrs Avdiu says:

    We miss you too Elena!
Thank you for including appropriate sentence openers relevant to this task.
I enjoyed reading your writing very much 🙂
    Have a wonderful weekend

  9. Good morning everyone! This is my balanced argument.

We all know who superheroes are. We hear about them everyday and many people think it is a shame they are not real. Although, the big question is, would it be good to be a superhero. Some people think it would be, having special powers and saving the world every week, sounds great right. Well, other people think it sounds terrible and I will go through the pros and cons of being a superhero in this balanced argument.

On the one hand, people think it would be a dream come true to be a superhero. For one, you would get your own special powers that nobody else had. You would be the only one to be able to do what your special powers enabled you to do. For example, breathe fire or shoot spikes out of your fingers. You would also be famous. If you were saving the world every week, how could you not be? Everyone would be asking for your autograph and you would be all over the news. Finally, when you are not saving the world, many people think that you could do anything you want. You would also be friends with all the other superheroes.

On the other hand, some people think being a superhero would be the worst thing in the world. Firstly, it is extremely dangerous, you could injure yourself in a battle with a supervillain and perhaps lose you powers forever. Secondly, a lot of people think you would never get a rest. If you were saving the world every week than you would be extremely tired. Lastly, if you were just a young a young boy or girl, how would you keep up on you studies? You would never be able to finish your homework. Also, although, your friends would undoubtedly think that it was cool that you were a superhero initially, they may well soon become resentful of your powers and annoyed that you could no longer see them on a play date as usual. For this reason, many people think it would not be good to be a superhero.

On the whole, I think being a superhero would not be as glamorous as it sounds and because of this, I would not like to be a superhero.

I hope you enjoyed my balanced argument!?

  10. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you Theo for this fantastic piece of writing! You have included various sentence starters using the appropriate vocabulary for the purpose of this writing.
I agree that it would be very tricky to keep up with your homework if you were a superhero. However, you could finish it if your super powers included finishing homework in 2 minutes? Ha ha…

  11. ?Angieli? says:

Happy Friday Mrs Avdiu, Miss Robertson, hope you all had a wonderful week.?

Although kids loved to read and watch about superheros, what would it feel like to have super powers? How thrilling would it be to be a superhero?

If you were a superhero with magical powers, i bet it would be the best day of your life! You would get super strength, you would run really fast, you get mind reading powers (ect). If we ever get super powers there can be a good side and a downside of having powers.

First of all, if one person out of millions has gotten powers they would be able to end poverty around the world, wars, save someone from a car crash or they can save someone from dying, and that is the use of the good thing of having powers.

The thing is, that when one of us have powers there are some bad things that could happen like you could accidentally jump to hard with excitement and knock some precious things over for example a vase, plants or your TV could break and you would have to pay a lot of money to put back the things you have broke. Which is awful! Then if you have super intelligence all of your friends would keep asking for you to help because their laptop broke.

Thank you for reading my work hope you have enjoyed and have a lovely weekend also stay safe and always keep washing you hands!!!?????? B)

  12. Mrs Avdiu says:

Hi Angieli! I have had a good week thank you. I am still working on the blogs at home and Ms Robertson is now back at school. I miss her a lot!
Thank you for sharing your great writing. Just check the sentence starting on the 9th line – it is super long and you may need to revise punctuation.
Thanks for the reminder to wash our hands 🙂

  13. .+*Ayako*+. says:

Hello everyone. I hope are all well. This is my balanced argument work for today:

Is it good or bad to be a superhero? Whilst there are many positive aspects of being a superhero, some claim that there are also downsides. On one hand, a superhero can help people. On the other hand, they have to make difficult sacrifices in their own lives.

It could be argued that it is good to be a superhero because they can make the world a better place. They can do this by saving lives, rescuing those in danger and helping communities. As a result, of their superhero powers, they are able to have a positive impact on the world and set an example to the people around them.

However, also it could be argued that being a superhero has some negative consequences. Being a superhero requires sacrifices. A superhero does not enjoy an ordinary life. They might have to make difficult moral choices about who to save and help because they can’t be everywhere at once. Also, a hero is always on call and can never rest fully knowing the world is safe.

In my opinion being a superhero is both good and bad. I believe, we all have the potential to be superheroes, but it requires courage, generosity of spirit and sacrifice.

  14. Mrs Avdiu says:

Ayako I am really impressed with the vocabulary in this piece of work. Well done! I have mixed feelings about being a superhero too!

  15. Nika ???️ says:

    Hello everyone!
I read all your published writing, and since I have had a bad start to the day, it really made me smile!

    WELL DONE EVERYONE!

    Nika ???️

  16. Mrs Avdiu says:

Hi Nika. Thank you for your lovely feedback. Why have you had a bad start to the day? If you wish to share with me then you can send me a comment and I will read it but not publish it.
Hope it had nothing to do with the blogs!!! 🙂

  17. Sebastiao ⚡️⚡️⚡️ says:

    Hi everyone,
I have finished doing my balanced argument on whether it is a good idea to be a superhero or not.
    Here it is!

Would it be a good idea to turn into a superhero?

A large amount of people think it would be a thrilling experience to be able to turn into a superhero at your own will, with all those magnificent powers you have always dreamed of! But after all, is it such a good idea? Read on to find out more about this balanced argument.

Being a superhero would be an enchanting feeling; with powers like being able to detect danger, of flying at fell speed, or even being able to change the past. Only the thought of it intrigues lots of people’s minds. On the other hand however, being a superhero would mean lots of time away for family and friends but instead always out solving problems and misunderstandings.

In my opinion I would give almost anything to be a superhero since I have always dreamed of being able to fly!!!

“With great power comes great responsibility”

    Peter Parker / Spiderman 2002

I hope you enjoyed my text!
    Have a great day! ????

  18. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you Sebastiao. This is a great balanced argument and you ended it powerfully with that fab quote. Well done!

  19. Some people have special powers however is it always great to be a superhero? There are times when it could be adventurous and thrilling but others when it could be dangerous and risky. On the whole, would it be great to be a superhero or not?
What if you’re in trouble and you don’t know what to do. Just go forward in time, as a superhero you have special superpowers which can change everything. If a family member is in danger, you will be there to rescue them and protect them from dark and malicious forces. Imagine having telepathic skills where you can send ideas to somebody’s mind. You could avoid detention by sending ideas to the teacher’s mind.
On the flip side, you might want to live a normal life but with flabbergasting powers that might not be as easy as hoped. Lying to family and friends in order to hide your identity can be difficult; you might need to miss important family occasions to go and save someone or something. Having to fight your biggest fear like dragons, despite being reluctant, is also one of the things a superhero has to do.
I would like to be a superhero as whenever my town or anybody needs me, I could rescue them and I could also use my powers to get myself out of trouble.

  20. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thanks Regan! It was a little tricky to read without paragraphs but I really enjoyed it. You made some very valid points. I think you would make a great superhero!

  21. Hello everyone I hope you are all ok, this is my finished balanced argument edited I hope you like it:

Have you ever liked comics and stories about superhero’s? What would you do if it were a daily thing to you? Would you like everyone supporting you? and you saving the world? or would it be to hard under all that pressure to do the right thing? Well in this balanced argument we’ll see both sides and find out what the majority think. To be a hero or to be a normal person what do you choose?

Firstly to be a hero would be outstanding because you would actually be able to save the world from treachery. Also you would be known everywhere. You will be doing the right thing and to be honest if I was a superhero I would be going around telling everyone that I have really cool powers. I think most people will think that being a superhero would be amazing and it could be, but you also have to look at the downside.

To be a superhero can be really hard and sometimes people don’t wont to be one. They want to be normal like you and me. Being away from your family almost all the time can be very hard sometimes, you miss them and you don’t spend time with them a lot. Yes you are saving the world but it must be lonely sometimes just fighting villains by yourself away from your family. Also you can get really badly injured by fighting and that wont be a pleasant feeling especially under all that pressure by the people to be good.

I think if superheroes were real I wouldn’t like to be one even though it would be cool to have real powers. I still would be normal. Also as you can see there are quite a few downs to a superhero I wouldn’t want to go through.

  22. Mrs Avdiu says:

This is brilliant, Claudia! Well done 🙂 I always enjoy reading your writing.
I liked your use of rhetorical questions and your variety of sentence openers.
I think you would make a great superhero 🙂

  23. Gabriella says:

Some people may think that having superpowers is great. However, is being a superhero that incredible after all? You may be able to do good, but it could also be dangerous! You might even have to move to a different country.

There are many reasons why being a superhero would be great. Firstly, because of you superpowers, you could help people in a way that an ordinary person couldn’t. Depending on your powers, you could also go to places really fast or even fly over the oceans. In addition to that, you would be unique and special!

On the other hand, some people might say that having powers might not be that magnificent. It would be a lot of work and you would be very busy, saving the world. As well as that, you would be under lot’s of pressure and you would not have an ordinary life.

I don’t think being a superhero is that great. I have shown that there are plusses and minuses to being a superhero. But, in conclusion, I would not like to be a superhero because I don’t think I need powers to be special.

  24. Mrs Avdiu says:

I love the beginning and you really made me question whether I think it is great with your use of the rhetorical question.
I really enjoyed reading this and I am impressed with the vocabulary 🙂 Well done! You would make a great superhero Gabi!

  25. Hi everyone.
I’m not going to write out my first paragraph again.

To be a superhero you must be brave, commited and determind. Many people think it would be amazing to be a superhero but there are downsides such as you might die on very important missions, sois it really worth the fame. Although, people might look up to you, you’d be under a lot of pressure to make people happy and to do the right thing and to not do the wrong thing.

Over all, I’m not sure if I would like to a superhero since you’d be under a lot of pressure and stress. But I’ve always wanted to fly and most super heros can fly.

  26. Mrs Avdiu says:

That’s a great reason to be a superhero- I would love to be able to fly too! Thank you Sara for your great work 🙂

  27. Good morning everyone, here is my writing for today’s blog.

Everyone knows about superheroes, whether it’s through comic books, or movies, we all know about them. Many people imagine them as perfect, with everything that they’ve ever wanted. Others, however, think differently, focusing on the dangers and losses of these fictional people. Regardless, what would it actually be like to be one of them?

On one hand, it would be great to be a superhero. You would have almost everything you’ve ever wanted, everyone would love you and you would have super cool powers. You could zoom around the sky if you could fly, or make cups of water pour on to bullies if you had telekinesis. You might even be famously rich if fans gave money to you or people sponsored you. Most people would say that nothing could be better.

However, would being a superhero be that good? You would miss many things that you love to do, let alone the hundreds of responsibilities you would face. Each time you left home, the whole world would practically be counting on you to save them. Everywhere you went, you would be in danger of villains trying to assassinate you. When you would save the world from evil things, you would be in life-threatening situations that you could die in and Marvel movies prove just that when Iron Man dies.

In conclusion, even though it would awesome to be a superhero, I would rather only be one for a day or have a friend as one.

  28. Mrs Avdiu says:

I loved reading this and you made a very good point about the whole world relying on superhero’s which is a big responsibility to have! Thank you for working hard on this, it’s great:)

  29. •∾Renee∾• says:

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoying your day so far (even though it is raining ?). Here is the rest of my balanced argument ?.

Some people think being a superhero is a gracious thing, but others think it is a horrible idea. But the question is, is being a superhero a good thing or bad thing? I will make some points on why being a superhero is a good thing and a bad thing.

I think it would be a good thing because you would save people’s lives and you would save the whole world and you would be very famous ?. It might also be because you might inspire people to help others like you!

On the other hand, it would be a bad idea because it might become very tiring to save as there might always be problems and it would make you very stressed as well. Another reason is because you could get hurt badly even though you’ve saved people from dying you might have gotten hurt. Lastly, there is a chance you might die trying to save the world from bad people ?.

In conclusion, I think I would rather not be a superhero because of chances of dying or getting hurt. It would also be because in every dangerous problem, I would always have to be included (which is quite annoying).

I hope you enjoyed reading my balanced argument. Have a lovely weekend and great day! ?

  30. Mrs Avdiu says:

Good points! Yes, you would definitely have a lot ‘on your plate’ and lots of responsibility to rescue others which I can imagine would be quite stressful.

  31. ✨Maia?? says:

    Hello everyone!?
This is what I wrote In total.

    -+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*

In my opinion I believe being a superhero would be very exciting. This is because I would be able to help those in need and maybe even get to save someone from danger. The advantage for this is that I would be able to do good in this world.

However there are some disadvantages, of being a superhero such as not being able to reveal yourself and getting injured during a mission. There is also a possibility of becoming famous and attracting unwanted attention.

Overall, I believe there are more advantages than disadvantages of being a superhero as you do good, helping the weak. Bringing happiness, order and peace to the world.

    -+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+*-+

I hope you have a wonderfull weekend. ??
    Maia????

  32. Mrs Avdiu says:

Marco this is very well written- well done! I think you would be a great superhero 🙂

  33. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thanks Gabriella for sending a photo of your narrative, which I have shared in the blog. I found it super tricky to read this font – next time, please could you use Times New Roman or Arial so it is easier to read? Thank you 🙂

  34. Violette says:

    Happy Friday!!!!!!???☺
I hope to see you soon!! ??

People think it’s bad but others dont.

It’s good to be a super hero because you are saving the day! Lots of people will admire you because you are doing a lot of great thing for your city and you will be a good guy! It’s also good because you have some super powers and it can simplify your life or the other’s life!!

On the other hand it will be bad because you may injure yourself…And you could possibly die while you were trying to save the world . Also if you are trying to save the day you will almost have no time for yourself or your family and friends. Joke: If you are a superhero your are not winning money.

As a clonclusion, I will not choose to be a superhero because I don’t think it’s in my capacity and I have other dreams.

  35. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thank you for this very well written argument, Violette! I hope all your dreams come true 🙂

  36. Mrs Avdiu says:

Thanks Gabi for changing the font! That is much easier to read now 🙂 I enjoyed your story about the dangerous ant! I would not like to come across one of those in my garden! Next week we will continue writing narratives and you will be able to choose another option – perhaps to write in the style of ‘My Cousin is a Time Traveler’ but with a twist to your title. More details will follow next week. Next time I would like to see more setting description in your narrative 🙂
