Good Morning Year 2!

Today we’re going to be starting our writing. Have a look at this week’s activity:

For today’s blog, can you tell me who you are writing to and what you are thanking them for?

Then, you can go off and write your messages. If you want to make a card, you could decorate the front, or write a letter and decorate the letter.  Although I do want you to write more than just 1 or 2 sentences! Try to have a paragraph (about 4-5 sentences).

Here are some key words that you might like to use:

Remember that the point of this piece of writing is to say thank you to someone. Try to give reasons why to explain what they have done and why you want to say thank you. You’ll be using a lot of sentences with ‘because’ to give all the reasons! If you are listing reasons, you’ll need to use some commas in a list. This video will help you remember how to use them correctly.

I can’t wait to see who you are writing to!

  1. Dear miss Carruthers,
I am going to thank my grand parents because they let us their house for a few weeks. I am greatful because I can go outside and play in the garden. I can go for a walk in the countryside. This is very kind and generous. They are so special to me. Unfortunately, because of the virus I will not be able to see them this summer and we will leave the house before they arrive. They used to look after me when my parents go away several days and I love it. I thank them for that too.

  2. Miss Carruthers says:

What a lovely idea Adrien! You have used lots of great words there which will make your card very interesting for them to read. Check your spelling of ‘greatful’, it should be ‘grateful’ 🙂
