Good morning everyone!

Workbook: 4B

Chapter: 10

Worksheets: 7 and 8

Today we will be looking at measuring height and length.

Measuring Height

We measure height in metres (m) and centimetres (cm).

There are 100cm in 1m. That means, 1cm = 0.01cm

(because 1cm is 1 hundedth of a metre so we put the 1 in the hundredths column)

So, 10cm = 0.1m

(because 10cm is a tenth of a metre so we put the one in the tenths column)

Think…

If someone is 148cm, how can we write this in metres?

Well we know 100cm makes 1m then we have 48cm left.

Remember the rules above?

It would be 1.48cm.

Measuring Length

Today we will be measuring shapes so we will be using cm.

When you measure length you need to use a ruler.

When we use a ruler we start with the zero, not the very end of the ruler.

So if I wanted to measure the edge of a shape I would do it like this:

So this side of the triangle is 3cm.

Miss Lee in worksheet 8 they have not given results correctly in some of the exercises. For example page 80 n. 3 the correct answer is 21 and not 22 cms.
In page 79 the measurements are not exact either. I have printer the sheets and measured it with the ruler. Thanks.

  13. Hello Rafael, thank you for letting me know!
Sometimes their answers are not correct, I’m sure you remember a few times in class we have looked at the answers and noticed they are not accurate!
However, it could also be that when you printed it the computer slightly changed the size of the worksheet to fit the page and therefore changed the dimensions.
As long as you have checked it with an adult that is fine, well done for completing the sheets!
