Lesson: 1 (Area and perimeter of rectangles)

printer-friendly version: Monday maths blog

Good morning Year 6!

I hope you had a lovely weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

Today we will focus on the area and perimeter of rectangles.

Please watch these videos if you need support:

BBC Bitesize: What is the perimeter?

BBC Maths KS2: Understanding area and perimeter

BBC Bitesize: How to calculate the perimeter and area of simple and compound shapes.

Simply put: To calculate the perimeter of a rectangle, for example, you add the lengths of all four sides together. To calculate the area, you multiply the length of one of the longer sides by the length of one of the shorter sides. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once you have completed the worksheet, consolidate your learning here: Area of rectanges consolidation

Then, why not try one of the extensions?

Good luck

Note: I will be on an online course this morning so I will not be able to respond to comments until the training has finished. Thank you in advance for your patience!
