Good morning Class 4!

Even though we can not go out as much as we would maybe like to at the moment, it is important to keep active!

Some of you may have different ways of keeping active at home and you can write about these on the blog if you wish to.

In PE lessons we have been looking at dance this half term. We were working on creating our own dances which represent electricity passing through a current.

Our dances were looking brilliant but they were not finished yet!

Your task is to come up with your own dance which shows electricity passing through a current. You might want to use some of the moves that you and your group came up with or you might want to adapt them slightly. You may even want to start completely again and use all of your own ideas. The main focus is that you are active, plus, dancing can make us feel happy and energetic! πŸ˜€

Think about everything we looked at in our PE lessons:

  • different speeds to move at
  • moving in different directions
  • creating different shapes with our body
  • moving at different heights (stretching tall or crouching down small)
  • think about how to link each movement in an imaginative way

A few ideas of how to complete the task:

  • create a dance on your own and perform it to someone in your family
  • create a dance on your own and then become a dance teacher and teach it to someone else at home
  • ask everyone at home to create their own dances and then have a dance competition
  • work in a team or a pair with someone at home to choreograph a dance together

There are so many possibilities!

You can choose any song that you like to create your dance to or you can click on some of the tracks from our PE unit below:

When you are finished, you can write about your dance on this blog OR send photographs of you doing your dance at home!

Don’t forget to stretch before and after and ensure you have enough space to dance safely!

(PE Health and Safety: If you have long hair it should be tied up and you should not be wearing any jewellery.)

Have fun!

If you really don’t want to create a dance, why don’t you try this active challenge:

How many star jumps can you do in 1 minute?

Tell us on the blog and then write about your dance that you created in our PE lessons at school.

  3. The exercise that I did was ‘how many star jumps can you do in one minute?’
    I did this exercise three times to see if I got a difference between the first, the second and the third time I did them.Here are my results;

    Round 1)75 star jumps.
After this round I was puffing very loudly but I was not tired.
    Round 2)73
After this round my heart was pumping very fast and I was out of breath, even though I was tired, I managed to do a last one.
    Round 3)83
After this final round I was extremely tired and couldn’t do any more.
I was very happy that I got some exercise done.

  4. Miss Lee says:

    Great work! Well done πŸ˜€

  5. I did 92 star jumps in 1 minutes!

  6. Miss Lee says:

    Wow! Speedy star jumping!

  7. Good morning Miss Lee,?
In one minute I could do 59 star jumps!!!

The dance I taught my family was firstly we hold hands and stand in a circle. Then we will lightly squeeze each other’s hand like electricity does. After that we take turns stretching tall and crouching down.

    Thanks, Tijne

    Hello Miss Lee
I did 110 star jumps in a minute!
    (I even had a stitch!)
It was very exhausting and right after the time was up, I fell on the floor, (literally!)
    Many thanks, Amarissa

  28. Miss Lee says:

    Hello Amarissa!
Wow speedy star jumping! I am not surprised you fell to the floor afterwards!

  29. _-*AMARISSA*-_ says:

I’ve also done Joe Wicks(the Body Coach)every morning, and even though they are hard, he gives us a little break after each and every move. Have you ever done sports live which him?(Tell me by writing back if you have)it’s not THAT tricky.

  30. Miss Lee says:

Sounds good! I have not tried the Joe Wicks PE lessons yet, I have been at the school hub this week. Today for our exercise we danced to Disney songs but perhaps we will try the Joe Wicks exercise tomorrow! πŸ˜€

  31. Hello Miss Lee
I do 5 minute squats, then we have a 2 minute rest after that we do 10 burpees then next Joe Wicks tells us to 60 push ups in a minute. It was exhausting! Then we had a 30 second rest. And for our last work out we had to put our feet in, then out, then touch the floor in between our legs-it was amazing! I exercise Monday to Friday and the days that I have out on I do them on Saturday or Sunday.

  32. Miss Lee says:

Hello Ciana! It sounds like you have been busy keeping very active! Great work! πŸ˜€

  33. I did 100 star jumps in a minute!

    Take care,
    Miss Coleman
