Good Morning Year 2!

Click here for a printable version of this blog post: Monday PSHE printable

Today we are going to think about our emotions. Emotions are our feelings. We can’t see them, so sometimes it can be hard to know what they are. It is very important to learn to recognise them so we can respond to them.

Have any of you seen the film Inside Out? It is about a girl called Riley and the different emotions going on inside her head. They are all there the whole time, but in different situations, the different emotions take control.

We all have these emotions in our heads too! Watch this video to see the different things that happen in Riley’s life that bring out the different emotions. *Remember to have an adult nearby to pause the video at the end, so that it doesn’t automatically go onto something else*

We all feel all of these things at different times.

What makes you feel…?

Today I want you to try and think of a different time when you have felt each of these feelings. Then, write a sentence for each emotion. If you want, you could draw a picture instead or as well as. If you are drawing a picture, make sure it is neat and colourful!

If you want a sentence starter, you could use these:

  • I feel angry when…
  • It makes me feel disgusted when…
  • I can fear fearful when…
  • When….it makes me feel sad.
  • I feel full of joy when…

It will be interesting to see the different times we all feel each emotion. I wonder if we have the same reaction to something, or if we feel differently? For example, some people might feel joy when singing a song in front of the class, but others might feel some fear.

If you want to do some more work on your feelings, have a go with this BBC Bitesize lesson. There is a song and a dance that you can do first, and then some videos to watch before you do the activities.

I can’t wait to find out more about your different emotions 🙂
