The Wednesday Word aims to help all school families draw closer to God, to the Church and to each other by sharing the Gospel together.
Please read the Wednesday Word together as family each week and support children’s understanding of the Gospel. Reflections can be recorded below. We love reading your thoughts.
Wednesday Word 28.01.26 HAPPINESS
Wednesday Word 21.01.26 COMMUNITY
Wednesday Word 14.01.26 WITNESS

The Wednesday Word this week is WITNESS. In the gospel Jesus talks about the heavens coming down to him when he was getting baptised. John was a witness and he described and told the others that he saw the great heavens and that John was the chosen one by God.
I will be God’s witness by being kind and saying please and thank you.
Witness means to show and tell others about your faith by how you speak or act
John the basptist witnessed Jesus being the chosen one, the son of God and he spread the good news. Like him we can help people by speeding God’s words.
This week’s Wednesday Word is witness. In the gospel, John had saw Jesus walking towards him. He told the crowd that this was the person he was talking about. Then, John started talking about him witnessing the Son of God.
We can be witnesses like John by:
. Telling the truth
. Sharing with others
. Spreading the Good News
Together, we pray that we can be witnesses like John.
Amen.
This week’s Wednesday word is WITNESS. It is about John the Baptist, who told people that something exciting will happen and that Jesus is God‘s chosen one. We should follow his example and share God‘s love with other people.
The Wednesday word is new start. I’m grateful for a new year and a new start. 🙏
In the gospel Jesus humbled himself and asked John the baptist to baptise him. He explained to John his cousin that this was the plan of God the Father. The holy spirit came upon Jesus duting his baptism so that the prophecy would be fulfilled. People witnessed an incredible miracle.
The word that stood out for me is ‘baptism’ because it reminds me of babies and babies are special. Jesus was not a baby when he was baptised though. St John the Baptist was witness to it.
This week’s word is “WITNESS”. Jesus is God incarnated and he is here to bring God good news. That is what John said of him. We have to be witness of Jesus too, spreading God’s love.
God is the light of the world, and we pray for him.
We want to share God’s love to everyone and he wants us make him proud of us.
Baptism is not just about the water that makes us clean on the outside. It’s really the start of a new life of faith.
Jesus gathers people around him, he builds a happy community that will follow him. We can be part of Jesus’ community by praying and following god’s word.
This weeks Wednesday word is Witness. A witness is someone who sees an event take place. In the Gospel, John the baptist was telling many people about Jesus, who was walking towards them. He told them about when he baptised him, and when a dove flew over Jesus. He then said that he heard Gods voice saying ” One day, when you are baptising with waters, you will see a man who the holy spirit rests upon. He will be the one who will baptise others with the holy spirit.” The word ‘witness’ links to this Gospel as John the Baptist said he witnessed God speaking to him and that he saw the Holy Spirit. In our daily lives, we can be witnesses of Jesus’ love by showing honesty and integrity, sharing and being kind to others in general.
This week’s Wednesday Word is COMMUNITY. In the Gospel, Jesus heard that John the Baptist was arrested. Then, as He walked past the sea of Galilee, Jesus saw Simon Peter and Andrew and told them “Follow me.” Then He saw James and John, the sons of Zebedee. They also followed him.
This week’s word is community. We can be part of one like:
. School community
. Marylebone community
. House community
We should always tell our community if we feel worried about something. Dear God,
I pray that others will be accepted into communities. Amen.
As a community we should all work together and help each other. we should pray that communities all work together and have no arguments so we can see and feel the kingdom of God. This could make a difference in the world. If we all work together to do this there will be more peace in the world and just a small act could make a big difference. This is how God would want us to look after the world.
The words that stood out for me are ‘gatherer of people’ because I learned yesterday that this means sharing the Good News with other people and not trapping them in fisher nets.
This week’s Wednesday word is COMMUNITY. It is where we find love, forgiveness and safety. We should follow Jesus example and look after our friends and family.
Last week’s Wednesday Word was Witness.God calls us all to be Witnesses of Jesus. We can do this by putting others first. This week’s Wednesday Word is Community.Jesus went round his community preaching in Synagogues and curing sick people. We can love our school community by helping everyone who needs it even if there not our friends.
Community is when we all work together.
This weeks word is Community .
In the Gospel James and John leave everything to follow Jesus. You can do this by tying to go to church every Sunday or you can stop what your doing and try to pray.
This week’s word is COMMUNITY. We read of when John,James and Peter were praying on a mountain and a voice came from a cloud. We can be a good community by helping someone when they are hurt and being kind.
This week’s word is COMMUNITY. Jesus wants us to be together supporting each other. In this way we can do everything faster and in a better way, following Jesus example.
The Wednesday Word of the week, is COMMUNITY.
To me, community is:
. Church
. School
. Activity
. Local Park
. Shops
. Neighbours
Community is important because we can help each other and be good friends who speak kindly to one another. We can show this with good body language , siting up right and looking at each other when talking.
Happiness is the week’s Wednesday word. We should be happy in earth and make people happy and we will have a great life in heaven.
Happy are we when we follow God’s words!!!
This Wednesday Word is happiness. We can all feel happiness anywhere like at a park, at home andat school. God always wanted us to feel happiness about anything including his beautiful creation, our home. We can make God feel happiness by protecting his world.
This week’s Wednesday Word is happiness.Jesus and God is where all happiness is found. When Jesus was teaching the Beatitudes he showed that money or power doesn’t bring you true happiness but loving God and going to heaven does.
This weeks word is happiness. It shows the beatitudes as they were teachings for Jesus to live happily with another.
This week’s Wednesday Word is HAPPINESS. In the gospel, Jesus was on the top of a hill and started preaching. He was talking about True Happiness. Jesus said God is the owner of heaven and if you forgive, be meek and gentle, you will receive true happiness in heaven.)
We can spread happiness by:
1) Being kind
2) Share and always care for others
3) Donate to the poor
These are just few examples, but if you do them, you will gain true happiness.
Community means being together and include everyone.
Community means being kind and nice to your friends and others.
This week’s word is HAPPINESS. In the Gospel, Jesus teaches the Beatitudes which helps us to live happy lives.
We could follow them by:
1) Follow God even if you are going to be persecuted
2) Asking God to help you
3)Be nice and kind to others
To make some one happy I will make them a card.
This week’s Wednesday word is Happiness . In the gospel, Jesus sees a crowd and climbs up a hill . I think that in the gospel Jesus tries to teach us that if we are respectful and loving in our lives we will have a happy and never ending life in heaven with him . Being kind is simple it can be small but to a big difference to someone else , for example put overs before you and guide the poor , sick and lonely .
This weeks word is HAPPINESS! Jesus talks about beatitudes with calmness in his voice. Beatitudes are commandments but much smoother. They are kinder and polite. In the gospel Jesus says beatitudes are bringing happiness to the world so people could treat each other as their neighbours. This gospel teaches Christians to love God, love our planet, love others and more about heaven.
This weeks Gospel is HAPPINESS. So in the Gospel , Jesus was talking about Happiness. And if we forgive each others we find happiness in Heaven.
This week’s Wednesday Word is Happiness. In the Gospel Jesus preached about the beatitudes. These are similar to the Ten Commandments and were preached by Jesus.
The beatitudes are important because they help christians have an understanding about how to live a good life.
This week’s word is HAPPINESS. Jesus said that if you’re kind and forgiving you will be happy on Earth and will be rewarded in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Jesus says that real HAPPINESS is to be kind, gentle, caring and merciful. Not to know how to do everything.
This weeks Wednesday word is HAPPINESS. Happiness is a feeling of joy, pleasure and contentment. In this weeks Gospel, Jesus is teaching his disciples about the Beatitudes. One of the Beatitudes are,“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven“. The Wednesday Word links to the Gospel as the Beatitudes are Jesus’ way of life and the way of true happiness. Some of the ways we can spread happiness is by being kind and caring, by sharing and by living happily with each other.
