This week, Year 1 enjoyed a creative music lesson with Mr Hylton, where they explored making their own tunes using chime bars.

The children each chose five chime bars from the set and experimented with arranging them into different sequences of notes. They listened carefully as they played, rearranging their bars until they were happy with how their tune sounded. Once they had created their own tune, the children played it aloud to the class. It was lovely to hear so many different arrangements.

Next, the children worked with a partner to combine both of their tunes and create one piece of music. They took turns playing their different sequences and listened carefully to how the two tunes sounded together before deciding on a final composition. They enjoyed playing as a pair in front of the whole class.

It was wonderful to see the children experimenting with making their own musical compositions, working collaboratively and confidently sharing their creations with the rest of the class!

Well done Year 1 for this week!
