This week, our school has been taking part in Anti-Bullying Week, a national event that encourages children to understand what bullying is, how we can stand up against it, and how we can work together to create a kinder, safer community. We celebrate this week in school to help our pupils recognise the importance of respect, kindness, and using their voices in positive ways.

We began the week with a whole-school assembly led by Miss Siswick, who introduced this year’s theme: “Power for Good.” She helped us explore how each of us has the power to make a difference through the choices we make and the way we treat others.

In Year 1, we spent time discussing what Anti-Bullying Week means and how we can use the theme of “Power for Good” in our everyday lives. On Monday, we also took part in Odd Socks Day, a fun celebration of individuality. Through this activity, the children learned that being different is something special—that our unique qualities make us amazing and beautiful. It was wonderful to see the children recognising and celebrating each other’s differences.

As part of our learning, Year 1 completed a special activity linked to this year’s theme. Together, we created a Kindness Tree. Every child was given a leaf and wrote a kind message to their classmates. The finished tree is bright, meaningful, and full of positivity. It has become a lovely reminder of the power of kind words, and we plan to keep using and adding to it even after Anti-Bullying Week ends.

We are very proud of how thoughtfully the children engaged with the week’s activities and how they demonstrated their own “Power for Good.”
