The theme for this year’s Art Week was God’s Creation, and in Year 2 we focused on animals. This linked beautifully with our Geography topic, Food and Farming in the UK, as well as our English learning about orangutans and the importance of protecting animals and their habitats. Throughout the week, the children showed so much enthusiasm and creativity as they explored different animals from around the world and thought carefully about which ones they wanted to illustrate in their own unique way.

Each child worked incredibly hard on their individual piece, taking time to add detail, colour and personality to their artwork. We loved seeing the children’s imagination shine through and hearing them explain why they had chosen their particular animal. The project also encouraged the children to appreciate the beauty and diversity of God’s creation and to reflect on how special and important animals are in our world.

For our colour scheme, we chose light and dark blue to represent  our colours at St Vincent’s, with bright splashes of red and yellow to make the artwork vibrant, joyful and eye-catching.

We cannot wait for you to see the finished piece and to showcase the children’s wonderful hard work and creativity at the auction!
