Year 3 has been hard at work this whole week designing and constructing castles! We began our week on Monday by studying the different features of a castle. We learned about the moats, flags, towers and turrets! We spent time designing our own castle within our groups, all while thinking about how we could bring our drawings to life.

Next, we analyzed our drawings to see how we could turn these into 3D structures. We knew we had to use a combination of nets and outside materials, such as ribbon and paper towel cardboard. We spent time folding the nets into the cubes, cylinders and cones we would need. Some of these proved quite tricky to cut and fold exactly on the lines, but we practiced relience and did not give up!

Today was construction day! We worked in our groups to actually make our castles! It was so fun seeing the different features our classmates included in theirs. Last but certainly not least, we had to evaluate our work and decide what we did well and what could be improved on. We worked so well together for this unit, learned so much and had such a marvelous time!
