This term Year 3 have the good fortune to work with Middlesex County Cricket Club once a year to brush up on and develop our cricket skills. Children started the lesson applying throwing skills learned in the previous lesson. We know that when we throw the ball a short distance, we use underarm for accuracy but our warm up game involved throwing bibs which required overarm throws to generate distance and speed.

By organising ourselves into set positions in small groups we passed the ball to each other, making sure every member of the group received the ball and made it travel as quickly from the starting point to the end point. We got to apply what we have been learning about throwing and catching and we learned how important it is to work together as a team and for everybody to be concentrating. The more focused we were and the more we helped each other, the better our team performed!

We were then excited to get the wickets and bats out for the first time this term after separating into small groups. We had to remind ourselves how to hold a cricket bat and bowl underarm towards the wicket before learning how to run between the wickets and score runs. We are really enjoying having MCC working with us this half term and we are looking forward to playing more cricket!
