This week Year 3 finished our Design and Technology project of making cushions! We LOVED getting the chance to practice all of our sewing skills. Our first lesson was almost a month ago, where we learned two techniques called cross stitch and applique. For our lesson the week after, we had a class discussion about textiles and sewing in general. There are so many benefits to sewing, such as the ability to mend your own clothes, or even create objects such as pillows! We learned that we were going to make pillows for our teddies, so we needed to carefully plan out what these would look like using our deisgn criteria. Our final two lessons were spent making our pillows using all the differen techniques we had practiced. Finally, we evaluated them once they were done to determine if they met their intended purpose. We cannot wait for you to see them, as we’ve worked so hard!
