We’ve had a great Enterprise Week in Year 6. We voted to make foam clay bag tags (in a break from Year 6 tradition!) and we’re glad we did because they were very popular indeed!

We started by thinking of  names for our company and then voting for our favourite one. The winner was ‘SlayClay,co,uk’ Then we had great fun, designing company logos and then voting for our favourite one. Well done to Sophia for her winning company name and company logo design!

Next, it was time to practice using persuasive language to create advertising posters for our product. We learnt about superlatives, alliteration and rhetorical questions and then wrote ideas for catchy slogans to persuade others to buy our products. We all shared our posters and our favourite slogans in class and then voted for which one to share in the whole school assembly. Well done again to Sophia for her winning advertising poster!

We must have been very persuasive because we had 80 orders from the other classes -it was so exciting, watching the number of orders going up live on Google Classroom! Most of  Year 6 also ordered one so we had a busy two days making and decorating our products. Many thanks to all of the parents who came in to help us with this.

We have learnt so much this week about what it’s like to set up and run a business and what it’s like to do paid work!

We also had four parent visitors who taught us more about the world of work by telling us what it’s like to work as a diplomat, a small business owner, in investments and in luxury travel. Many thanks to them all for giving up their time to speak to us and answer our questions; we really appreciate it.

We have  been learning more about democracy through voting for every decision throughout the process and then agreeing to the decision voted for by the majority of the class. We have also been using all of our  learning powers throughout the week.

After we had paid back the £30 that Miss Coleman gave us (which was spent on clay and pipe cleaners) we ended up with a profit of  over £70.  We will vote on what to buy with the money that we earned once everyone has had a chance to make suggestions.

Let me know what you would like to spend the money on in the comments, Year 6.

Have a lovely half term, everyone!
