We have been continuing our Gymnastics unit as part of our physical development for this half term.

This week we focused on jumping and landing safely from a height.

We began our session by playing some jumping games including jumping from the beanstalk, and run, jump and stop where we practised jumping and landing on the same spot without wobbling or taking extra steps.

We then focused on developing shape jumps including:
Straight jumps
Jumping jacks

We practised jumping from a height using the benches and mats. We built on our straight jumps and practised landing our jump with our feet together.

We finished our session by combining actions. We began by creating a shape on the bench, using a jump on to the mat and then finished with a balance of our choice which we used from our previous learning.

Reception, how did you make sure that you were safe when you were jumping?
