This afternoon Year 1 was lucky enough to have the opportunity to visit the Jewish Liberal Synagogue, which is located right next to Lord’s Cricket Ground.

After our journey on the bus we arrived at the Synagogue and were greeted by two local members. We were able to explore the Synagogue and recognise what made a Syangogue unique. We also saw all the ways that a Synagogue was different to a church (for example the walls in a Synagogue are all kept bare to encourage people to clear their minds when praying to God). We then learnt about the kippah and tallit, which people wear inside the Synagogue, and some lucky people even got to try them on! We also saw a very old Torah, and learnt that if we laid it out it would take the same amount of space as a football pitch. We learnt a little bit of Abraham and then lastly we even got to try some challah bread. This was delicious!

We had such an informative and enjoyable time visiting this Synagogue!
