Year 1 have been learning all about length this week.
We started with an activity where we ordered ourselves from shortest to tallest in our table groups. We talked about the words tall, taller and tallest, and then we compared height to length and what this means. Today we started looking at the difference between height and width as well.
We have looked at using informal measurements to measure things. We used building blocks to measure different objects.
We have also used formal measurements to measure objects. We learnt about centimetres, and the small notation of cm, and we used rulers to practise measuring each other. We also used smaller rulers to measure things in our activity book. We really loved using rulers!
This looks like so much fun. You can even start to see how tall you are getting from now on x
We were measuring, we measured each other and Miss Pycroft helped us. I really enjoyed this activity and had lots of fun. My favourite thing to measure was the elephant.
