At the beginning of our Science unit ‘Living things and their habitats’, Year 6 built on their previous learning about grouping living things by looking at the classification system in more detail.

This week we explored how plants can be grouped and subdivided. The children enjoyed learning about the four main plants groups (Mosses, Ferns, Conifers and Flowering Plants) and using their scientific knowledge and vocabulary to group and classify plants.

Thank you to the enthusiastic children who brought in plants and leaves for us to directly classify.

The children are looking forward to next week when we will be studying micro-organisms. They are also excited about our Science trip to Queen’s College later in the term.
