Today’s focus is ‘Taking Notice of Nature’. Take stock of your surroundings, be curious, and catch sight of the beautiful. Being in a state of ‘mindfulness’ has been shown to be associated with a positive mental state. Greater awareness of the world around us helps us see the unusual and notice simple pleasures like the changing seasons. Savour the moment, whether you are walking to school, having a picnic or talking to friends. Be present to your feelings and environment. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matters to you.

Nature Trail: Visit a park and use your senses to go on a nature trail. What can you see? What can you hear? What can you feel? Explore your surrounding and see what new things you can discover.

Grounding: Find a special spot that captures your interest. Sit or lie quietly in a position you feel comfortable e.g. lie under or lean on a tree and stare up into its branches. Look around your special spot, focussing on the smallest details. Discuss how the quiet time made you feel and what you observed.

Giving Thanks: On your journey home, look for a plant or animal and write a prayer thanking God for this creation.
