Today I had the amazing opportunity to be Head teacher for the day! I had to arrive at school at 8:20 to get my picture taken and to give hand gel – at the front of the gate – to all the children as they arrived at school.

Then I got to lead the school assembly, for the whole school, which was kind of scary at first but after a little while, I got more confident. I had to make a rule for the day, which I announced in assembly, which was 5 extra minutes of break. I got to give out the stars of the week – some were even from last week. I even got to introduce two people from CAFOD (Miriam and Michael) who did a presentation on the Jubilee Year, some people from Bangladesh and gifts. Miriam and Michael also did some workshops with some classes throughout the school day.

After assembly, I got to order some items for the school with a budget of £50. I ordered hurdles, crayons and pastels – which I hope everyone will enjoy once they arrive.

Then I got to observe and take notes about the different classes which I really enjoyed doing. I got to see what they were learning about or playing which was a lot of fun! Everyone was being so sensible, had very good manners, kind and caring to each other and had very good handwriting in their lessons. During their lessons, I got see what they were learning about, help them on questions and ask them questions about their topic or what they were doing.

At 12:15, I got to taste the lunch which was rice, chicken, chickpeas and corn – thank you for such great food, all of it was delicious! During this time, Year 1, 2, 3 were having lunch and I got to talk to them and I even got to ring the bell which usually only teachers do and ringing it at lunchtime was a great addition to this wonderful day. After lunch, I got to have a break on the roof with my friends. At 12:30, I rang the bell saying “5 more minutes” and lots of people cheered which made me feel very happy as my head teacher for the day rule was a success to everyone!

After break, I got to give all the teachers the feedback on what I wrote when I visited their classes with Miss Coleman, and they seemed to be very happy as all the feedback that I gave them was all positive! I enjoyed giving the feedback to all the teachers in the school – all the way from Nursery up to Year 6.

My day was AMAZING!!! My favourite part about being head teacher was looking/observing each of the classes because I got communicate with all of the children in the other classes, ask them questions about what work they were doing and read/play with Nursery, Reception and Year 1.

Now I am tired and full of joy after this fun day full of different fun jobs for me to do! Thank you for such a fun day, I really enjoyed all the activities I had to do as Miss Rexer!
