We have been learning about the local Church through our Religious Education topic ‘Celebrations’.

We have been looking closely at what churches look like, inside and out, and also learning about how the Parish family celebrate in church.

We all made our own churches by creating the shape of the building using lolly sticks or straws and then cutting and sticking pictures of the Parish family celebrating. Some of us also chose to create our own churches and then role play the parish family celebrating.

As we have now finished this topic, we had a try at answering some ‘Big questions’ about celebrations. Here are some of our fantastic answers:

How do people celebrate at church?

“They sing about Jesus.”                                                                                                   “They listen to the Bible”                                                                                                  “They listen to the priest.”                                                                                                “The babies come to church and all the families come.”                                       “They stand up to do their prayers.”

Why do we celebrate at Church?

“Because we  don’t have a priest at home.”                                                                  “Because of the Baptism. When I was a baby I had a Baptism.”                    “Because Jesus is born.”

Can you celebrate on your own at Church?

“No,  because all the family of God  need to come.”                                                  “No,  because you need some more people.”
“No,  because that’s not right. God is there.”                                                              “No,  because of the priest.”

Our next Religious Education topic is ‘Gathering’ which is all about the Eucharist. We would love to share the children’s family photos to introduce this topic. We already have some from a previous topic but please go to Google Classroom to upload one if you haven’t already or if  you would like to send a new one.  Thank you very much in advance.
