This week, we were delighted to welcome our lovely pupils back to school. It was wonderful to hear all about the fantastic summers everyone had enjoyed and, most importantly, to welcome everyone into Year 2!
We have had a very busy and exciting first two days, getting to know one another, settling into our new routines and completing some very important tasks.
We began our school year by creating our Class Charter. This is an agreement between everyone in our class about how we will work together, treat one another and make our classroom a happy and positive place to learn. This year, we focused on some of our school’s core values and thought carefully about how we can demonstrate these values in our daily lives, both at school and beyond. We completed a special task for our classroom display, as well as creating a lovely piece of work in our curriculum books to show how we will put these important values into action.
Next, we completed our My Place in the World task. We started by exploring our local area and used an aerial photograph of the area around our school to help us create our own maps. We also designed a map key so that others could easily understand the different features shown on our maps. We were very proud of the careful work and attention to detail that went into these!
Alongside all of this, we have been busy making birthday cards, getting to know our new classmates and, of course, having lots of fun!
It has been absolutely lovely to welcome everyone back, and we are so proud of how brilliantly the children have settled into Year 2. We have had a fantastic start to the year and cannot wait to see what next week brings!
