In our Religious Education lessons, we have been studying John’s Gospel and we have enjoyed exploring the powerful theological metaphors that are included throughout the Gospel.

Today we explored ‘Love stronger than Death’ using The Grain of Wheat metaphor in John’s Gospel.

John 12: 24

I am telling you the truth: a grain of wheat remains no more than a single grain unless it is dropped into the ground and dies. If it does die, then it produces many grains.

Jesus knew that his death would be fruitful beyond all imagining. And being fruitful was more important to him than being comfortable.

We enjoyed a really interesting discussion and then explored artwork that depicted ‘Death to New Life’. Afterwards, we created our own artwork using string and paint to express what ‘Death to New Life’ meant to us. Please have a look at our paintings below-we are looking forward to reflecting on our work on Thursday.
