For our first topic in Religious Education, Year 4 have been looking at the Domestic Church with the topic of People and how we look at the family of God through scripture. We have been exploring the family tree of Jesus and looking at his ancestors who came before him.

Year 4 started off firstly by exploring their own family trees and working out their own ancestry. They saw how important it was to trace back where our family had come from. We read Matthew 1 which explains the genealogy of Jesus Christ and told us how we could trace the ancestry of Jesus Christ all the way back to Abraham. We then decided to focus on some of Jesus’s ancestors and create a portrait of them whilst explaining how they related to Jesus and how important to were to him.

Year 4 later then looked at the story of Abraham who is known as the Father of Many Nations after God came to him and asked him to leave everything he had and go to a new and unknown land where he would become the leader of a new nation.

Next week, we will be exploring more people who are a part of Jesus’s family tree and looking at their lives and their relationship with God.

What did you enjoy learning about in our Religious Education lessons over the last week?
