In Religious Education we have begun our new topic of ‘Eucharist.’ Last week we thought about some special meals that we have had in the past. We thought about the food that we shared with our families during special occasions.

This week we have been learning about Jesus’ special meal with his disciples – The Last Supper. We learnt that it is called the Last Supper because it was his last meal before He died. The Priest acts as Jesus did in the Last Supper. We learnt that the bread and the wine represents Jesus’ body and blood. We looked at two very different paintings of the Last Supper – one by Leonardo da Vinci painted in the late 15th century  and the other by Kandinsky painted in 1909. We studied each painting and spoke about what we could see.

The children have created beautiful pictures of the Last Supper using different materials.

Well done Year 1!
