In our new Science Unit, we are learning more about how light travels.

Today, after having impressed Miss Siswick and Mrs Healy with everything that they remembered about light from their Science learning in Years 3 and 4, Year 6 were given the task of finding their own methods to prove  that light appears to move in a straight line.

With their learning partners, Year 6 chose their own equipment and investigated different methods. Then, each group demonstrated and explained their method to the rest of the class.

Well done, Year 6. You worked so well in your groups and really impressed us with your super Science skills and knowledge today.

I really enjoyed finding out that light only travel in a straight line and I found the experiment really fun and challenging and it was a bit hard to make the torches work. I also liked seeing the differences in other children’s experiment and finding out different theories about how light travel in a straight line.

  2. I really enjoyed this science activity as we got to learn how light travels, and that we can only shine light in one direction.

  3. I found it slightly onerous as it is so obvious that light travels straight so it would be hard to prove it.

  4. I really enjoyed this weeks science lesson because the experiment was fun to do and I learned how to explain how light travels in a straight line.

  5. This science activity was really enjoyable and interesting. We did presentations about if light travels in a straight line! This topic is very fun and I would love to learn more!

  6. It was really fun and kind of challenging explaining to the whole class how we found out light travels straight. In my opinion it was easier to do the experiment than explain it to the other class mates. I also enjoyed learning other peoples theories since then I learned how other people thought.

  7. The science experiment was really fun. Finding the theories that prove light travels in a straight line was interesting. The hardest bit of the experiment was making the torches work.

This was a really fun activity. It was interesting to see everyone’s theories and how they were all different but based on the same subject. I really enjoyed this science lesson and I hope we will do something like this again.

  9. I really enjoyed finding out that light only travel in a straight line and I found the experiment really fun and challenging and it was a bit hard to make the torches work.

  10. It was interesting learning about how ;light travels straight and explaining how.

  12. This was so fun to do and I cant wait for us to expand our knowledge on light even more in our next lesson.

  13. I really enjoyed the fact that I was using light and I enjoyed when people proved how light traveled in a straight line.

  14. I found it really interesting because everyone had different examples and methods for how light travels

  15. I found it interesting to prove something that may seem obvious at first, but was actually really challenging to prove that light travels in a straight line.

  16. This was a fun lesson about learning/investigating how light travels and I’ve learnt a lot of light traveling in a straight line and hope to see more in the next lesson.

  17. I really enjoyed finding out about the shadows and experimenting on it. Light can travel in a straight line but when you point the object to a different angle then the shadow is pointing more on the side but it is still under the object.

  18. I enjoyed how we could be creative and use any materials we wanted from the front of the class, showing off our experiment was really nice because many people had good ideas to show.

I enjoyed the science experiment. I it was interesting to see what other children did. I cant wait to to learn more.

  20. This was a really fun experiment . It was quite hard to prove that light travelled in lines.
But me and my partner managed

  21. I enjoyed finding out that light only travels in a straight line. It was very difficult to try to explain how its travels in a straight line, but we eventually explained it.

I enjoyed learning how light can travel in a straight line I loved the experiment.

I really enjoyed this experiment cause I got to tell Miss what we would need. It was great fun. 🙂

  24. This lesson was really fun because it helped me visualise how we could show that light travels in straight lines!
