In Year 5, we have started our new topic “The Amazing Americas”.
We began the topic by exploring the continents of North and South America, and the countries that form them. We also looked in more detail at some of the contrasting regions of the Americas, finding out about the landscape, climate and locations of each area.
Most recently, we studied the life and work of a famous South American artist called Joaquin Torres Garcia. Garcia was famous for using symbols in his artwork and used this as a way of communicating his ideas too. Year 5 have taken inspiration from Garcia by selecting four pictures that communicate meaningful things about their life.
