Today, we had a special visit from a group of Year 7 pupils from St Marylebone CE School.

The year 7 pupils have been studying the text ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman,’ and have been developing their creative writing skills. The pupils wrote their own letters and postcards based around a traditional tales theme and were eager to share these with Reception.

As Reception have been reading and learning all about ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ story, we were thrilled to welcome the children from St Marylebone to share their fantastic work with us.

To begin our session, we listened to a drama performance led by the pupils where they retold the story of the Jolly Christmas Postman. They read out and shared lots of their own pieces of writing and it was interesting to hear the children’s own versions they had written.

We then had the chance to work in small groups and listen to some more letters and postcards written by the children.

The Reception children were very inspired by all of the lovely story telling and writing this afternoon.

A special thank you to the Year 7 pupils of St Marylebone and the teachers for leading the session today!
