This year, we had the wonderful opportunity to select 40 pupils to represent St Vincent’s Primary School running in the Mini London Marathon. There were 2 events: the 1 mile route and the 2.6km route. We could select 15 pupils from Years 5 and 6 for the 2.6km route and 25 pupils from Years 3 and 4 for the 1 mile route.

The mini marathon was held the day before the official London Marathon and began on Horse Guards Parade before finishing on the Mall in front of Buckingham Palace. It was a wonderful event with approximately 15,000 runners representing schools from all over the country. Crowds of spectators lined the routes cheering the runners on and the atmosphere was incredible!

Our participants did themselves and our school very proud. Everybody completed the routes and we had some very fast times indeed. Most importantly we all had lots of fun taking part and each of us went home with a medal which will be treasured forever. Well done runners! You did brilliantly!
