Today, Year 1 enjoyed an exciting visit to the Floating Classroom as part of their science topic. We took part in the “Amazing Animals” workshop, which helped us learn all about different types of creatures and their habitats.

We began our morning with a walk to Baker Street before catching a bus to Little Venice. Once we arrived, we boarded the boat and had a short introduction to the day. Our first activity was bird spotting and feeding, which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We then continued our learning indoors, finding out more about different kinds of birds.

After a short break, we took part in a series of fun activities, including a bird catwalk with feathers and oversized bird feet! We then stopped for lunch, which was one of the highlights of the day.

In the afternoon, we learned about animal habitats and explored whether different animals are omnivores, herbivores, or carnivores. We also had some quiet time to enjoy a story before travelling through a long, dark tunnel on the boat—there were lots of cobwebs, but the children were very brave!

To finish our day, we created minibeasts using playdough before catching the bus back to school. It was a wonderful trip, and we are so proud of Year 1—they were all superstars!
