Our new book is The Tiny Seed by Eric Carle.

During Literacy sessions this week we have been exploring our new book. During shared reading sessions we have followed the story in groups, talking about the journey of the tiny seed, and the changes it makes from seed to flower. The story fits in perfectly with our topic for this half term – Seasons! The story allows Reception to have great discussions and make observations about the changes to nature during the seasons, noticing how the seasons affect the life and growth of animals and plants.

Each week we explore our text through an oracy session, a creative activity that enables Reception to understand and imagine the story in different ways. This week the children displayed their fantastic artistic skills!

Each child chose their favourite page of the book, and tried to recreate the colourful illustrations of the story just like Eric Carle. The children tried very hard to capture the colourful pages of the book using water colours, and they all produced fantastic work!
