Last week, Nursery and Reception were so lucky to visit Willows Farm! We had such a fun day looking at so many different animals and learning all about how the farm looks after them.

We got to Willows after a fun coach trip all together, and once we had arrived we went straight to see a show! We watched Peter Rabbit’s friend, Lily Bobtail singing and dancing for us. It was so fun, and we could all stand up and join in with the singing and dancing!

Our next stop was to watch a cow milking show! A lovely brown cow called Cupcake was on a milking machine, and collected two large buckets full of fresh milk. It was amazing to see how much milk the cow could make, and how bright white the fresh milk was! We learnt all about the types of cows that lived at Willows and the many things that we can eat or drink that use the cow’s milk.

There was a large pretend cow at Willows, whose udders were able to be milked. We were all taught how to use our hands to milk a cow, and each had a turn – water came out of the udders! It was so fun and Nursery loved doing this.

We went on a really exciting tractor ride! Tristan the Tractor was a fun and bumpy ride. The whole class, mums and dads were able to fit on all together, it was lovely way to see the farm. We saw many animals grazing in their fields too!

The afternoon was spent outside in the sunshine, meeting and feeding lots of the farm animals. We were able to feed large and small goats, sheep and cows some grass pellets. Nursery were so brave, putting their hands out flat so all the animals could eat from their palms. The animals were so hungry, and so excited to see so many of us with lots of food. We were also lucky enough to hold two Guinea Pigs, one with very fluffy crazy hair, and one that was very soft and smooth. Nursery all held or stroked the Guinea Pigs, and everyone was so gentle with the animals.

We had a fantastic day on our first big trip, seeing and learning so many new things in the sunshine. Thank you very much to the SVPA for funding our fantastic trip today! We made such lovely memories which we will treasure!
