Over the last few weeks in Year 1 we have been looking at different materials. We have discussed different materials (e.g. metal, plastic, wood…) and looked at their properties (e.g. hard, soft transparent, rigid…).

This week in our learning we were looking explicitly at how different materials are waterproof. We got four fluffy toys, and we wrapped them in different materials; one in paper, plastic, metal and felt. We then dunked these toys in water for ten seconds. It was very exciting to see which toys came out wet and which were dry!

Check out the photos from our experiment!
