We have had a lovely start to Year 1!

We have become familiar with our new environment already and we are now able to find our own peg and carpet space. We also enjoyed welcoming two new children to our class which was lovely!

We took part in lots of fun activities – writing and sounding out words, reading books, adding using cubes, playing snakes and ladders, drawing and naming shapes and playing with a shape jigsaw puzzle! We have also spoken about our rights and discussed Article 31 of the UNCRC which says that all children have the right to relax, play and take part in a wide range of creative and cultural activities.

Today we looked at a map of Marylebone. We used aerial photographs to identify our school, St James’ Church and then looked at other important landmarks. We then pretended we were birds to see if we could get a birds eye view of Marylebone. On our journey we saw the BT tower, Marylebone station and the Wallace Collection. After labelling a map of key landmarks we drew our own map of Marylebone.

Well done Year 1 for an excellent start to the year! I am excited for our year ahead!
