Although there has been great excitement about returning to school it is still a strange and worrying time for many children. Pupils’ experiences of the pandemic will be very varied. Some, despite restrictions, will feel safe and mostly enjoy their time. For others, it will be challenging or even traumatic. To support children during this transitional phase, every class has a daily Wellbeing session where they are given the time and space to express their feelings and practical strategies to manage their emotions.

Over the course of this week, all children have been given the opportunity to reflect and express their thoughts and feelings using mindfulness techniques.

In addition to this, we also reminded the children about the Zones of Regulation, a systematic approach used to teach children scaffolded skills to build awareness of their feelings/internal state and utilise a variety of tools and strategies for regulation, self-care, and overall wellness.
