What a fantastic week we have had!

This week we have been focusing on lots of different important aspects of the world around us!

Reception took part in Mental Health Week, and watched a special assembly online, all about the people in their lives that support them and make them happy. Then they created ‘support balloons’, they drew and painted pictures of hot air balloons, and inside they drew the special people in their lives at home and school, who support them. They created fantatsic pieces of work, and could tell the adults all about the people they drew in their special support balloons.

We then focused on the theme of ‘Growing Together’. We read the story ‘The Very Hungry Catterpillar’ by Eric Carle and talked about the changes the catterpillar went through, at the different stages of his life. We thought about the changes we go through, and how we change as we grow older. We thought about the ways we can support others to grow, just like the people in our support bubbles help us. Then we made beautiful butterflies!

Then we had a focus all about keeping safe online, on Safer Internet Day. We had circle times about the devices we use at home, and different ways we can keep safe – most importantly to always tell an adult if you have any worries or have that ‘funny tummy’ feeling. We read a DigiDuck story about playing online games, and how important it is to not share passwords, even with friends. We also learnt that special features of games cost real money, so we must ask an adult when playing. In groups we made posters, showing everything we had learnt about keeping safe online.

Then we had a special assembly about all things online with Belinda, and heard the ‘funny tummy’ song. An excellent reminder of what to do if see something we are unsure about: ‘Funny tummy’ song

Then we had Cultural Day! Everyone came in their own clothes, representing the countries that they and their families are from. This was a fantastic way to learn new things about one another, and celebrate the different clothes, traditions and cultures that make us all unique and special. Reception and Nursery sang ‘He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands’ for our school assembly, and said a lovely prayer together.

Reception have had a great week, it was a lovely way to finish such a brilliant half term. Well done!
