This week was World Week at St. Vincent’s!

The theme of World Week was ‘connecting’ and we thought about how we can connect with each other in lots of different ways throughout the week.

Monday was Spirituality Day and we did 3 activities to connect with God and out Global neighbours around the world. We thought about how we could heal divisions to work together towards peace, created prayers for those suffering around the world and thought of things we wonder about the world and its creation with the Pupil Chaplaincy Team.

Tuesday was Safer Internet Day and the theme ‘Want to talk about it?’. Miss Carruthers led a brilliant assembly for us all about online safety and in our activity we thought about online issues such as scams, chats and games. We discussed how we could deal with these issues, how they might make us feel and all of the people we could talk to. The internet is a brilliant way to connect with one another, but it is important to learn how to use it safely!

Wednesday and Thursday were Children’s Mental Health days. On Wednesday we focused on a brilliant story ‘The Invisible String’ by Patrice Carst. It was about all of the different connections we have to those who love us, such as our friends, parents, those are are with us, those who are far away, and even those who are in heaven. We used the story to think about our own invisible strings and drew these in our books, thinking about all of the special people who care about us. On Thursday we thought about our local community and connected with them by making some special cards for the residents of our local care home, to help cheer them up if they are lonely and help them with their mental health

On Friday we celebrated our heritage countries through our Cultural Day assembly. In class we continued this celebration by thinking about different festivals from around the world and the special traditions people have to celebrate them. We researched what people do, eat, wear and places they visit. We also discussed our own special celebrations and how they are similar and different at the same time. Everyone embraced and celebrated cultures we were familiar with and new ones we have learnt about! What a special day!
